"I love working at the Richmond group because I feel I am part of a friendly working environment and have been welcomed into the RG family right from the start. When I first started I was given a lot of support and encouragement in my role, but that hasn‘t stopped just because I have settled in now, if you ever have a question or idea you are encouraged here to ask for help and feedback." Daryl, Loan Finder

"I have worked in a few sales jobs, and one was a call centre for two years - nothing has ever had such a friendly atmosphere like the Richmond Group! The benefits are amazing, and I love the fact the company treats their staff with such respect. You do well for the company - the company will do well for you. It's your business." Jon, Debtline Manager

"Because the RG lets the front-line staff, who are the ones dealing with the customers, genuinely lead the company. Our staff know that we will run with their ideas and put all of our resources behind it." Kelly, Measure and Improve Team

"It's great to work for a company that cares about it's staff; their ideas, wellbeing and the ability to do a good job. It's really good to know that we are all responsible for the company's progression, it gives a great sense of achievement. It's a company I would definitely recommend to friends!" Robin, Payment Guard

"I really enjoy my job, the benefits are great too - A free iPhone as a manager, free breakfast every morning, cheap gym, mufti on Fridays, and the fact that if you want to do well you can make it happen with the support of the RG. " Lewis, FLM Manager

"The best thing about The Richmond Group is the fact that you get the opportunity to develop. I was given a chance to run a team within 2 years of starting and it's these development opportunities that have made me stay. In my opinion, the company's attitude towards it's workers is second to none." Scott, Training

James is the owner and Managing Director of the Richmond Group. Having started CGS, the first company in the group, in his spare time whilst working for another company in 1999 he was struck at the number of people who had been left out in the cold by mainstream lenders and High Street Banks. In the early days James didn’t have the money to invest in advertising so instead he had leaflets printed and delivered them on foot himself. During his first full time month James delivered 30,000 leaflets, walking approximately 300 Km in the process. As Managing Director of The Richmond Group, James has a close involvement with most departments in the company. He spends most of his time talking to team managers and meets with every operator in the group at least once every 6 weeks.
"When I started The Richmond Group it was because I didn’t want to work in a boring 9 to 5 job in a stuffy company. I had worked for other financial companies and had been frustrated at their appetite for growth and the speed with which new ideas were taken on board.
From the beginning I have had two rules, the company has to grow by at least 50% every year, and work has to be fun for everyone. Whilst the first has been surprisingly easy the second has required significant effort along the way. As with any journey there have been highs and lows, but today I can honestly say that there is no other Finance company that I would rather work for. As with most people who work for the Richmond Group, the reason for this is that the people I work with are exceptional. Whilst we all still have a lot to learn before we can say that we are the best, we are making good progress along that path."
"Some of the companies that have inspired me along the way:
Innocent - for their sense of humour and fun, and their refusal to cut corners when it comes to what is important.
Google - For the speed of delivery, development and change. Google has changed the world in less than 5 years.
Zopa - For being one of very few true innovators in the financial services sector.
Easyjet - for taking a lot of the bureaucracy, pomp and ceremony out of air travel and in the process making it more accessible to normal people."

Marc Joined the Richmond Group in 2003 and is a testament to the fact that talented and driven people can get ahead ridiculously quickly. As a call centre operator Marc annoyed his manager so much with his idea of paying secured loan brokers for their tenant applicants that to get him to shut up he let him have 2 hours a day away from his job to prove it. Marc didn’t just use the two hours, he went home and worked in his own time, even coming in unpaid on Bank holidays to prepare mail shots. It wasn’t until we found ourselves having to employ new operators and rent extra office space that we realised the value of his idea. Marc's project turned into our brokerage department that spawned Tenant Loans, and now accounts for 1/3 of our unsecured applications. Nowadays we are a little more supportive of people on special projects but the level of commitment required to get ahead is the same. Marc was made a Director in 2006 at the age of 25, almost 3 years after joining the Richmond Group, and is in charge of special projects. Marc works with developing departments and new group companies to lay the foundations for our continuing development and expansion.

I joined the Richmond Group as a trainee Director in October 2008 and can honestly say it was the best move I have ever made.
Before joining the Richmond Group I came from a corporate background making my way up the Management ladder. I constantly found myself tangled up in red tape and surrounded by staff that were on a slow, meaningless road to retirement. I knew I needed a change but couldn't find a company that stood out as being unique, then I found an advert for the Richmond group. I was based in Brighton at the time but I was so impressed throughout the interview process that my mind was made up and I relocated.
Now things are different, everyday I walk into the office to a team of people that want to make FLM the best loans company in the world. Everyday presents a new challenge and I really do learn something new as each day passes. I have never once watched a clock, Googled the worlds biggest dog or sat longing for the weekend. I live in what I believe is the best part of England, surrounded by friendly people that enjoy life and know how to have fun.
The Richmond Group is growing rapidly but has its feet planted firmly on the ground, we work hard to keep our eye on the detail that other companies would miss.
Now when I interview staff I look for entrepreneurial spirit, a drive to be the best and people that demonstrate ownership when they take on a challenge. If you are interested in being part of the future of FLM or any of the Richmond Group companies get in touch.
