Going in to the game full of confidence from the recent promotion to the premiership the night seemed like it would never go to plan!
Firstly realising Kyppa had no keeper gloves and the kit was nowhere in site we detoured to Scott’s to pick it up…problem over…however with the diversion it meant we were already 10 minutes late for kick off….. Could this get any worse!!!??
Game kicked off at a furiously fast pace and it was a big wake up call for the Richmond group boys, from the offset it was obvious that this game was going to be very physical with Alex and Liam getting their fair shares of kicks and Liam stupidly retaliating and letting his thoughts known to the ref which only resulted in a severe telling off!
Shane was bombing through from the back and Griggs was as solid as ever, after 8 minutes RGFC took the lead, Liam with a step over to cut inside and drill a low shot into the bottom corner! That woke the opposition and it was an onslaught at Kyppa who was more than a match for ever shot that came through, however just before half time poor closing down from Liam and Alex meant a free shot at goal resulted in Kyppa being unable to match it.
Came out in the second half and the RG boys had obviously been affected by the goal, as Any Good Burt took an early lead, and heads did go down was this game over for the RG boys??!!
Answer… NO!
With Deano having a few chances it looked like the boys were back and there was a way through the strong opposition midfield! Shane and Dan inspirational at the back seemed to rub off on Alex and his work rate grew 100 percent and showed what a great player he really is.
Once again… the boy from the ghettos of Mexico, pulls off his trade mark drop of the shoulder and spanks the ball hard and low past the keeper…this lifts the RG boys beyond belief and the style is well and truly turned on!!!
At 2-2 a schoolboy error was made and one of our players who shall not be named, stepped into the area which resulted in a penalty….was this game over…. The giant of a centre back stepped up but our giant of a keeper must have given him a cheeky grin as he fluffed it and was possibly the worst penalty I have ever seen!
Even better was the fact that all that their player did was moan, for a big lad he whinged like a baby!
A superb ball from Shane, saw Liam have 2 players to beat and with another little turn had a one two fantastically returned from Alex and the ball was driven past the opposition keeper….
From then on even the boys at the back fancied ago, Biles, Griggs and Masterman all having shots well saved and the Richmond group passing the football about like the Brazilians. Tricks galore by all on the pitch made the spectators smile…
With 3 minutes to go and Kyppa pulling off 5 saves in the space of 30seconds the pressure was relieved by a string of passes in which all the players had a hand in, Alex laying the ball off for Liam to come through and drive into the top corner of the net….
Liam then came off for marc to have his second stint on the pitch and he was like a dog after his ball putting in 110% effort and determined not to lose, tackling hard and passing his way out of trouble on a few occasions very calm from Mr Biles.
Great performance from all members and with 2 other premiership teams looking on in anticipation a firm message of intent was sent out…. these boys are not here to be beat they will be challenging!
A solid performance once again from Kyppa, Griggs at the back was solid, strong and a hair was never out of place! Shane was bombing forward and showed no sign of a recent back injury and was commanding never shying out of a challenge even pulling off a few tricks. Alex was as ever the diamond upfront and was always battling, holding the ball up well, and even putting his foot in when he had to. Liam battled well in the centre pulling off the tricks and turns but not afraid to shy out of a challenge and a hat trick was well deserved. Biles and Deano did the jobs they were asked to do and did them well! Deano battling hard and pulling off shots whenever he could, Biles solid at the back and bombing forward when needed to.
Man of the match….Votes in and Man of the Match goes to Shane with 33% of the vote. A very close call by all accounts.
With a game to spare RGFC have secured second spot in the league to earn promotion to the Premiership next season. Congratulations to all the team and everyone who has contributed to the team's success!
Congratulations to:
Scotty T - the Gaffer! Managed our motley crew and won promotion in his rookie season.
Kyppa the cat - RGFC's award winning goalkeeper. Has seen the team through some rocky times and undoubtedly played a major part in the side's success.
Mark Lamb & Shane Masterman - Stalwart defenders, tough attackers, always give 110% and Richmond Group to the core!
Alex Smyth & Andy B - The sharp-shooters of the team. Contributed most of the 86 goals this season and put the cherry on the icing with their flair and prowess on the pitch.
Notable mentions also to: Mourad Malki, Scott Hardy, Dean Iles, Steve Beeston, Liam Keithley, Haefed Benamor, Steve "Skippy" Armstrong, Max Ridd, Ashley Wright who all played their part. !
The Richmond group turned up 4 this game in boyant mood knowing that a win tonight could ensure promotion to the top tier of Rokos 3 divisions. It turned out a non-contest as Nosebag FC didnt show up 4 the game automatically handing the lads 3 points.
The boys got a run out in a friendly against a team from the Premiership whose opponents had also failed to turn up 4 the evenings events. The game started at a good pace with both teams looking to win the game and by half time the scores were level at 2-2 with some good goals from Dean I and Andy B and some good saves from Kyppa keeping the scores level.
The second half kicked of and were soon 4-2 behind with 2 strikes that left Kyppa no chance. The lads mentality was good and pulled it back to 4-4 with a good strike from Liam and a major deflection took the ball into back of the net from a Hardy strike. Andy B burried another effort but the Premiership team pulled it back 2 5-5 in the dying minutes!! As the game finished and was a draw we decided 4 a penalty shoot-out. Hardy stepped up and missed the first penalty and they burried there first to put them 1-0 up.Lambo stepped up and confidently pulled it back b4 a great save from Kyppa pulled it back to 1-1!! A good penalty from Dean I got us 2 2-1 and another great save from Kyppa kept the score at 2-1. But some drama as Kyppa got injured saving the penalty and Lambo donned the gloves. Then Liam scored 2 make it 3-1 and they missed the resulting penalty so a 3-1 victory on penalties against a Premiership team holds us in good stead for the upcoming campaign!!

A win in this fixture would have almost gauranteed promotion for RGFC, but with key players mssing the fixture due to international duties, it was always going to be an uphill battle. With an injured ScottyT (sicknote) between the sticks, the lads were going to have to do their best to keep the shooting chances at our to a minimum. With ex richmond grouper Ash Wright re-called due to the massive absence list we hoped that we had the quality to be able to scrape a victory, but then in the first 2 minutes it all went wrong. 1st the oppostion slotted home a soft goal passed Scott, then moments later the opposition striker ran into our D and stamped on Scott's ankle, forcing him to break his own record and hobble off after only 2 mins. This meant Ash had to don the gloves, and his inexperience in this position was exploited by the opposition, with them going into the half time break 4-1 up. The only glimmer of hope coming from a shane masterman goal.
Then at half time, Shane stepped up to wear the gloves. With a weakened team and players playing out of position, it was more a task of damage limitation than winning the game, Shane pulled off a string of fine saves that kyppa himself would have been proud of, but as the shots rained in he was beaten on 3 occasions, with 2 strikes from Lambo leaving the final score at 7 - 3 in favour of You've Been Tangoed.
All in all a disappointing evening, but with promotion still looking like more than a realistic oppurtunity next weeks game will be a big one, with the lads wanting to secure promotion before our final fixure to ensure a comfortable end to the season.
Man of the match: Shano, played well in the 1st half, then putting himself in the line of fire in the second half, and looking almost like a goal keeper!

With the season coming to an end this was a must win game for our boys if promotion was going to become a reality, not just a pipe-dream. The game started at a fairly fast pace with the ball yoyo-ing between the 2 sides with no clear shots on goal falling to either team, just hard tackles flying in from all angles which proved to set the tone for the rest of the game. After 5 mins Scott. T went it for a challenge on their forward and came out worse, hobbling off the pitch moments later and not returning for the rest of the game leaving the already depleated side a man down.
Soon after RGFC took the lead when Dean Isles slotted a well timed ball from Shano between the keepers legs and into the net. Within 5 minutes Mark One brought the scores level with their most skillfull (and violent) player beating the last man and leaving Kyppa with no chance.
At half time The Richmond Group went in with a 4-1 advantage after a further goal from Dean and 2 from Andy. B, looking fairly comfortable, but the lads knew Mark One still had some fuel left for the second half.
The beginning of the second half was disastrous for RGFC, with goals flying past Kyppa from all angles as the defence opened up leaving spaces for the opposition's forwards to create space for themselves. Soon they had equalised leaving the score at 4 a piece after a slightly lacklustre backpass from Mr Biles let the opposition in with a clear shot on goal, however this mistake simply mirrored the tens of other mistakes made by RGFC in the early period of the second half and things looked like they had all gone wrong with the oppositions confidence growing with every touch of the ball. Then little Andy slotted home to complete a well deserved hat-trick, giving the boys the confidence booster needed. This confidence was short lived as Mark One quickly scored their 5th, leaving the game open for the taking. The biggest clash of the game then came between Mark One's 6' 5" 16 stone monster and our little 5'8" 9 stone (dripping wet) super striker Andy B when the referee blew for a clear foul and their "giant" clearly didn't agree with the decision. 10 seconds later he threw himself at Andy sending him into the air with a dangerous, professional foul from behind, with tempers flairing there was a "small tussle" between the two sides, with a few unpleasant remarks being exchanged but the referee handled the situation well and awarded a yellow card to their frustrated man mountain, which was viewed as a fairly soft decision by our boys, who felt the player clearly deserved to be sent-off.
With that incident forgiven but not forgotten the players played out the last few minutes at a fairly slow pace, trying to ensure no gaps were left open to allow the opposition to score, but desperately surging forward to try and secure a victory. This proved to pay off with Deano also completing a hat-trick and with almost the last kick of the game, the 3 points were secured when Andy nabbed his 4th to make the final score 7-5.
All in all a hard fought game, with some nasty moments, but after the game the 2 teams made their apologies, shook hands and thanked each other for possibly the most evenly matched and competitive game of the season so far.
Man of the match: Although the goals rained in for Andy. B and Dean Isles, the victory was due to the hard work and resiliance of the whole team, therefore this week's man of the match is split between all of our boys. Everyone dug deep and battled for a hard earned victory!!! Also a special mention to Steve Beeston (Yellow Team) who played well in his debut for the team.

The boys went into this game full of confidence after a run of 6victories in a row but were facing the toughest game so far of the season against a Corfe team that are unbeaten all season and flying high at the top of the table.
The game started at a good pace with the tackles flying in and it was very tight. Chances were few and far between but the difference in the teams was Corfe Reserves clinical finishing and were 1-0 up within 10minutes. We kept battling hard but were having problems creating chances and were trying to force the equaliser but they caught us on the break twice and were 3-0 down by half time and weren’t looking like getting back into the game.
The second half we came out with a much improved performance and were fighting to get back into the game when Corfe struck back and the clinical finish left Kyppa with no chance. Lesser teams would have folded and given up the game, but not the Richmond Group who came out all guns blazing and Lambo scored a long range effort to give us a slight chance at getting back into with the scores at 4-1.
We kept pressuring and were outplaying Corfe Reserves and got a deserved second with a fine strike from Alex "the Mexican wizard" to bring it back to 4-2. We kept battling and with impressive performances from Shano and Kyppa between the sticks, the lads kept plugging away and based on our second half display we deserved at the very least a point, with the lads playing flowing football and Corfes keeper producing a string of fine saves which kept them in the game. This was a good second half performance with a lot of positives to take out of the game and if we perform in that manner for the rest of the season I'm extremely confident we will kick of next season playing top level football at Roko next season!
Man of the match: Kyppa was outstanding again between the sticks, but with a very special mention to Shano who battled throughout the whole game and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet.

Andreas Beirne, Dean Iles and Shane Masterman were all on target for the Richmond Group tonight as the Whites took their record to 6 wins in a row with a comfortable victory despite a poor performance against one of the league’s weaker sides. Both sides were guilty of wasteful finishing throughout the match with the Richmond Group struggling to co-ordinate an unfamiliar side as two of the regular 1st team players were rested. Despite this tactical confusion RGFC were the better side and made their strength count against the smaller, fitter DHAC FC.
A line-up of Scotty T in goal, Mark Lamb and Mourad Malki in defense and Shane Masterman and Andreas Beirne up front always looked the stronger side against the younger Don’t Have A Clue. The match started with tentative running attacks and much of play centering on the midfield area of the pitch. With no more than two or three passes being linked at a time play was scrappy and RGFC lacked the fluidity that they so masterfully demonstrated in last week’s match. DHAC FC set the tempo high, which, combined with the warm evening proved energy sapping for RGFC – this was further compounded by DHAC’s constant rotation of subs that broke up the game even more.
On 5 minutes Dean Iles was introduced as a sub and made an immediate impact, scoring with a low drive from the edge of the box. A second goal followed as Shano pounced on a poor clearance from DHAC and touched the ball gracefully into the net. Don’t Have A Clue responded immediately with an opportunist goal which took a bounce from the post before slipping in behind an otherwise active Scotty T. The RGFC reserve keeper was largely responsible for keeping the Whites in the game and stopped a barrage of efforts throughout the game. Further substitutions were made toward the end of the second half with Scott Hardy and Marc Biles replacing Mourad and Lambo, but to little effect.
The second half became an untidy affair with a rotation of substitutes from both teams every two minutes. With every player on the field struggling to find consistency in their play it seemed like the match could go either way. RGFC added a couple more goals through Andy B and Deano finding the back of the net once more. But Don’t Have A Clue FC weren’t beaten yet, replying with a firm drive from their full back who also tucked away a penalty to take the game to 5-3.
The game ended 6-3 as Shano smashed a drive into the top right corner of the goal with his weaker, right foot. A score line that flattered RGFC they will certainly have to play better in their up coming matches as they face an increasing quality of opposition over the coming weeks. The result cements RGFC’s position as second in the league and with Corfe Reserves looking like they will take the top spot after extending their unbeaten run this placing could prove crucial as the season draws to a close.
Man of the match: Scotty T - A committed performance to keep RGFC in the game. Provided plenty of commentary throughout the game to co-ordinate the RGFC side and captained the side to an almost deserved victory.

Following last week’s crushing victory over Intersex Milan the Richmond Group faced a tougher tie on Monday evening, being matched against 2nd place Eddie the Eagles and battling for a promotion spot. Having already suffered a heavy loss at the hands of the Eagles on the opening day of the season it looked like RGFC may have struggled again with star goalkeeper Kyppa, midfield maestro Shano away for the weekend and Scott Hardy and Mark Lamb away on Premiership duties.
This was not to be though as Eddie the Eagles were spectacularly ejected from the league! It would seem that during last week’s loss against Corfe Reserves, the Eagles fell from their perch and descended into madness. With one player sent off, three yellow carded - the Eagle’s goalkeeper even took a swing at the ref! An automatic ban was the only decision that the PlayFootball board could take, with the Eagles left with egg on their faces - no longer able to compete in the league.
With the Richmond Group automatically taking the three points, a 3-0 win over the ejected Eagles and moving into the crucial 2nd automatic promotion place; the only game to play was a friendly against division 2 side AFD Bournemouth.
Starting with a fresh line-up with plenty to prove RGFC set out to win the match as if it were the cup final. With Scotty T replacing the absent Kyppa in goal and Mourad Malki stepping in for Lambo the side dominated the opening minutes of the match with exhibition-style one touch passing and fine movement off the ball. Using the match as a training session the Richmond Group got into the swing of things with early goals from strikers Andy B and Alex who were both in blistering form.
With Alex, Andy and substitutes Max Ridd and Dean Iles all on target throughout the first half the AFD Bournemouth goalkeeper did little more than pick the ball out of the net, aside from producing a fine save to deny a sprightly Biles his first goal of the season. The gulf in class between the Division 2 side and Division 1 Richmond Group gaped ominously as goal after goal flew in – the Whites finishing the first half 8-1 up.
The second half was more of the same with RGFC dominating possession. An early slip-up saw AFD Bournemouth claw one back but they had too little left in the tank to stage a comeback. The game became shooting practise as RGFC scored a hat full finishing up the tie with a rugby score, with Alex claiming a stunning seven goals, Andy B on fire with six, Max & Dean claiming 2 each and Mourad with a stunning drive to take the game to 18-2. Watch out Division 1, the Richmond Group have found their scoring boots!
Lining up for the tie against Don’t Have A Clue FC next week the Richmond Group will have a selection dilemma – but a good one at that. With the whole squad of players fit and available for selection Sunday’s training session will be an important one.
Man of the match: Alex Smyth - With no less than seven fine goals and some stunning finishes to boot Alex narrowly edged Andy B to take this week's award, as both strikers put on an outstanding display. With dazzling footwork, splendid control and lightening quick movement throughout - this season's Golden Boot award looks like it could be a close run thing. I would also like to make an honourable mention for RGFC's player/manager Scotty T who stood firm like a rock in goal.

With the PlayFootball spring season reaching the halfway point tonight’s match was another must win affair if the Richmond Group are to stand any chance of climbing into a promotion place. RGFC rose to the challenge claiming their fourth win in a row. With Player/Manager Scott Thompson on the injuries list (Poorly Throat) Dean Iles filled in making his full debut for RGFC after a lengthy layoff due to a sprained ankle.
With an attacking line up RGFC set the tempo early on with two quick goals from forwards Andy Beirne and Alex Smyth. The team combined nicely with overlapping runs from Mark Lamb and Shane Masterman in defense assisting the front men to bag another couple as Intersex Milan suffered both physically and mentally from the increasing dominance of the Whites.
After taking a worrying knock during the warm-up, stalwart keeper Matt Kyprianou did the team proud yet again parrying a few snatched shots as Milan tried in vein to reduce the deficit. But Kyppa was found not wanting as he defended the RGFC net, diving left and right with the grace of a ballerina.
On 15 minutes RGFC made a double substitution with Marc Biles and Scott Hardy replacing Mexican, Alex Smyth and the quick-footed Andy Beirne. It seemed for a moment like RGFC sorely missed the penetrative runs of their two star strikers. However, as the subs settled down the passing flowed nicely with Hardy and Shano building on their solid performances in the previous game by adding their names to the score sheet before the half time whistle blew. 6-0.
The second half proved to be more of the same with RGFC building on their first half performance. Dean Iles was introduced providing some old-school dribbling, exposing Milan’s chaotic defense. Enjoying the captaincy, Lambo also relished the opportunity to get forward a bit more this week exhibiting his trademark strength and composure. Alex dazzled the spectators with some scintillating footwork and driven by an earlier wager with the on-form forward Andy B, both looked to score at every opportunity.
Milan did however have some quality going forward, frequently threatening to grab back a goal as RGFC piled men forward. Kyppa stood firm, a rock on which the improving RGFC founded this victory, warding off a series of attempts to deny Milan any hope of a consolation. As the second half drew toward a close Milan became increasingly unhinged by the trouncing, turning first on each other and then on RGFC. A running battle developed between rising defender, Biles and the Milan left midfielder, typifying the level of commitment from both teams.
The night belonged to the Richmond Group as they rounded off their win in emphatic style. With no less than six players on the score sheet – Alex with 4 goals, Andy B with 3, Scott Hardy 2 and Deano, Lambo and Shano with 1. A solid performance reducing the RGFC goal difference to just –1, underpinned by a brilliant performance from Kyppa in goal.
Man of the match: Matt Kyprianou – Provided at least 3 of the goals with pin-point accurate throws, stopped numerous attempts on goal and coordinated the whole team with his constant communication. A masterful performance and a well deserved clean sheet.

Well, as the saying goes - football is a game of two halves and so it proved in this hard-fought victory. With on-loan Mexican striker Alex Smyth out injured RGFC looked like they might struggle for goals. This proved not to be the case as Mark Lamb bagged a hatrick to take RGFC to their third win on the trot.
Proudly wearing their new team strip the Richmond Group took an early lead through the quick feet of Andy B as he latched on to a nice ball through from an on-form Lambo. Nosebag FC soon equalized as RGFC struggled to keep up with their pacey forwards. Kyppa was undoubtedly the star of the 1st half as he did well to keep out a constant barrage of shots.
Nosebag FC opted for a total-football style, constantly swapping and changing position, which proved menacing as they fired home 3 more goals in quick succession. With Marks Lamb and Biles in defense battling hard behind forwards Shane and Andy, RGFC saw plenty of possession but looked the less likely to score. Until, Shano turned a nice 1-2 into a neat counter attack; culminating in a powerful drive from Lambo to take the game to 2-4.
On 15 minutes RGFC opted for some fresh legs as Thompson and Hardy provided an increase in tempo. The pair worked hard but only managed to hold the score line at 4-2 come half time.
Determined to keep up their winning ways of the previous two weeks, the Richmond Group dug deep and quickly Lambo bagged his second of the night with a powerful long range effort. Then with a quick finish Andy B snatched an equalizer early into the second half. No sooner had they done so Nosebag FC edged ahead again to take the game to 4-5. As the trash talking ran rife and the challenges began to fly, the Nosebags became a little unstuck. Hardy immediately took advantage and equalized with a deft flick of his left foot.
As the final whistle loomed it looked like the game would end in a draw – but Lambo wasn’t going to let that happen as he capped a brilliant performance off with a fine finish to take the game to 6-5. The result means that RGFC stay in 3rd position in the league with 10 games still to play.
Man of the match: Mark Lamb – capped a great individual display with three great goals. Was the difference on the night between the two teams. Did not come out of a single challenge without the ball for 40 mins.

The Richmond Group football team are now proud owners of their own company sponsored team strip. It will premier in the upcoming match against Nosebag FC.
The Richmond Group are lying in 3rd place in the league with points to make up to catch the 1st and 2nd placed teams.
With their own personalised shirts to spur them on, the outlook for the future is very positive. Come on RG FC!!!!

After an indifferent start to the season, the Richmond Group knew this was a must-win game if they were to do anything in this league.
The match was going to be tough, as the Richmond Group were up against Mkone, who ranked third in the league, but the lads didn't disappoint...
At the start of the game the Richmond Group were running the show and should (and maybe could,) have been a few goals up before Mkone took a shock lead against the run of play.
The Richmond Group struck back instantly and were 5-1 up by half time.
In the second half, Mkone came out strong and really got at the Richmond Group, but the defence (in particular, "Kyppa the Cat",) were holding strong.
They pulled it back to 5-3 before two brilliant penalty saves, one after the other, from Kyppa, which kept us in the game even though he took a knock in the process.
The Richmond Group finished off with another two goals. At this point the opponents turned nasty and kicked off at the Richmond Group, simply because they couldn't get near us in terms of quality on the day.
This truley was a great team performance, with nearly every outfield player on the scoresheet! A well deserved victory for the lads, and a confidence boost needed to take the Richmond Group onwards and upwards for the rest of the season.
Man of the match: Kyppa kept the team in the game at a tough stage, so has to be him, but the whole team performed extremley well, so we'll expect more of the same next week, lads!

The Richmond Group walked onto the pitch for their 3rd game full of confidence following last weeks win, even though they were playing a team that are sat in second place in the league.
It was a fairly slow start to the match, but as the pace picked up 5 minutes in, The Richmond Group went 1 - 0 down after giving away a sloppy free-kick.
Soon after, tackles started to fly in from all angles with the referee seeming to find everything in favour of the opposition. Frustration was kept under control, but soon they went 2 - 0 with Kyppa not being left a chance from the finish.
By half time the score was 4 - 0 and if it wasn't for Kyppa's cat like reactions the score could have been considerably higher.
Early in the second half the ref gave the opposition a penalty for what looked like a clear push on Marc Biles causing him to tumble into our D. At 5 - 0 down the lad's spirits didn't drop and 2 goals came in quick succession for The Richmond Group.
At 5 - 2 it looked like there was an outside chance of a comeback but 3 late goals from the opposition gave them a very flattering 8 - 2 win.
Man of the match - Kyppa
Without the cat in goal last night we would have lost by a similar score to the 1st match. Keep up the good work!

After the disappointing result of the season opener, The Richmond Group hoped for a solid start to the second match.
The hard work put in on Sunday's training paid dividends with an early strike to take the team into the lead within the first 3 minutes. With this early confidence boost things looked up, and by half time the score was 3-1 in The Richmond Group's favour.
The second half turned out to mirror the 1st with another strong 20 minutes of one-touch football from the up and coming team. After a few little kicks and trips in the closing minutes from the frustrated opposition, the final whistle was blown.
The score was 6-2 with Alex Smyth taking his tally for the season up to 6 with 4 goals in this top notch performance from The Richmond Group.

The Richmond Group walked onto the pitch with high hopes for the upcoming season.
However, the team's spirits were knocked when Eddie The Eagles took the lead within 2 minutes.
The Richmond Group were trying their best to redeem themselves, but everything just went from bad to worse.
By half time, the gap in the score had started to become embarrassing.
There was a deficit of 10 goals, but the team kept their heads up and eventually scored!
It was a cracking individual effort from Alex Smyth, the Mexican Wizard, who scored both goals for The Richmond Group. Towards the end of the game things slowed a little as the players tired, but there was still 100% effort right through till the last minute!
