Environment

In five years, The Richmond Group has gone from a single office with less ten people to operating six brands over four sites and employing over 300 people. As we’ve grown both in size and success though, we’ve become increasingly aware of the impact that RG has on the environment. That’s why we’re taking firm steps to decrease that impact not just over the next 12 months, but well into the future too. Here are some examples of what we’re doing:

  • We send SMS messages to our customers instead of letters whenever possible.
  • We offer online statements, cutting the need for sending postal statements to customers.
  • We’re working towards putting all our documentation onto recycled paper.
  • 85% of all our waste paper is currently recycled.
  • 78% of our payments are taken electronically rather than by post.
  • All outbound mailing lists are de-duplicated and checked against the Royal Mail PAF file, meaning we save paper by never knowingly sending out undeliverable or duplicate mail.
  • Thanks to our town centre location, 80% of our employees come to work either on public transport, by bicycle or in a car share. We also recently partnered with Cycleshare as part of the government’s Cycle To Work initiative.
  • All lights are all low energy and computers are never left on overnight.
  • Overall energy consumption within RG is currently being reviewed, but we’re aiming for a 25% reduction in energy consumption per employee.
  • All the food packaging used in our kitchens in biodegradable, and we even use recyclable cutlery too.
